Today's name is most probably a corrupted form of the Javanese words Lantas that means a fish grill and that finally gave this is land "Koh Lanta" In 1917, the name changed to "Koh Lanta" and the two main island together with 51 smaller isle became a small province of Krabi, Thailand.

The second nearest airport is Trang 90 minutes by air from Bangkok . The transfer time from Trang airport-Lanta Sand Resort and Spa by van taken approx 2 ? hrs. It takes approx 4 ? hrs to travel from Phuket to airport to Lanta Sand Resort and Spa by van. Transfers by van is in daytime and depending on weather condition.
